Secrets and Updates

This past week has been great. I am so happy to be back to writing, and there really is something about Syreena (Alchemist) that is very reminiscent of Zanas, but in a far darker way. Unlike Zanas, Syreena didn't grow up in a happy cherished life, no, Syreena grew up in the darkened shadows of the underground. 

What do we have to look forward to from the Alchemist clan? Both Pursuer and Dreamer left them vague. Rightly so, they keep mainly to themselves, raised entirely from birth within an Alchemist sub-world.  

What kind of personalities do the Alchemists have? Duty first and foremost. Their entire existence is to become one with the greater hive mind, in a sense hiding their unique personalities, always beneath the Alchemist hood. But there are other reasons to don the cloak, mutations not always getting desirous results.

What part does the Alchemist play in the overall story line, series wise that is? We have something brewing, something from the very beginning. Each clan plays a part, some on the side of "good" some on the side of "bad", although the lines between the two are always blurred in the Alwahi universe. We will have to wait and see what role the Alchemist clan will play in the bigger picture.

Will we see any other clans in Alchemist? Each book in the series has given you a glimpse into the other clans. Dreamer had interactions between both the Pursuers, as well as between Syreena and Asenya. Alchemist is no different, the Pursuers always seem to play a big part in the overall story line of each book and that will continue. The Pursuers in fact, will have quite a large role in Alchemist, though we probably wont see very much, if at all of Zanas. Hmmmmmm.... then what am I saying?? Of course, I'm speaking of Dressdon of course:)

But maybe I have said too much already, lol;) I am currently 20,000 words into Alchemist, and I wish I had more time to devote to it and it would be even further along. But it can get hectic with my chickens (children), and sometimes mommy has to come before author:) But all in all, Alchemist is moving at a steady rate....oh and it's sooooo good:D

Oh hey and the first two books in the series are now available through Amazon in paperback! 

Smashwords is still processing, so no word as to when it will be moved onto other channels. (B&N, Kobo, Sony, Apple etc)

Print Copies of Pursuer & Dreamer Now Available!

Pursuer and Dreamer are now available in paperback. They will not be available directly through Amazon.com for 5-7 business days, but you can purchase them right now direct from Createspace. Finally actual copies! 

Dreamer Available through Smashwords

Dreamer can now be purchased through Smashwords for all e-reader formats. It will be a week or so before Smashwords moves them on to the traditional channels (B&N, Kobo, Sony, Apple etc). But you can buy every type of file directly through Smashwords without the wait. 

I will update when it is up traditionally!:)

Alchemist

I am just over 8,000 words into Alchemist, and really loving it. It is totally different than the other clans, so dark and mysterious. 

The cover is up, as you may have noticed, but its not quite finished yet. I need to change something, put for now it is a teaser of what is to come. 

Do you remember when I mentioned I might be creating a continuation to Pursuer? (Read Here) Well that idea is now officially set in stone. I have also spent the last few days mapping out the entire story arch of all the books and what part each one will play. Zanas will continue in the fourth book of the Alwahi Series (Unnamed), with Asenya returning for the grand finale (Dark Queen), the fifth and final book.

Oh and smashwords is "grinding" right now. Oh the horrors of formatting to smashwords, but that is another blog all together... lol. But I am working diligently towards getting Dreamer available in all formats. I will update when it is.

Just Checking In

Hello all:) I thought I would just update on the progress of Dreamer. I finished the final run-through of Dreamer yesterday, however, since it was done so quickly I am running through it one more final time. This will in no way put the release of Dreamer back. 

I am anticipating it being ready for release by the end of next week! Yup you read that right. I figured it would be done earlier than the end of January, but I thought I would give myself some extra working room. So, if all continues as planned, you should have Dreamer in your hands within 8 days... 

Sooooooon!

Just finished the re-read of Pursuer, which was beneficial in multiple ways. I found a tiny inconsistency between Pursuer and Dreamer, and I was also able to go through Pursuer again and clean up some pesky typos. So double score, Pursuer is uploaded to amazon in its cleaner form (once Amazon approves the changes), and Dreamer is one step closer to debut.

The time is just ticking away now.... 

Oh hey, and guess what!? Pursuer is currently listed as #2 in the free action adventure/ fantasy, and #191 in the overall free category!

Maybe, Just Maybe

So, I'm gearing up towards reading Pursuer sometime this weekend. And I started to dwell in the world of the Pursuer in my mind, thoughts melding themselves together. I have read more than one review stating that they wished Dreamer was about the Pursuers and Zanas, did I mention Dressdon? 

Although the Pursuers do have a part in Dreamer, a major part to be frank, the story was always meant to be Asenya's, just as Pursuer was always meant to be Zanas's story. I have also seen reviews wondering why there was little interaction between the two sisters in Pursuer. That is because they each have their OWN story to tell. Just as Alchemist will be from a third point of view, and where finally we will find out why the girl's were brought to the world of Alwahi. And where we discover the Alchemist's were the only clan that truly had the answers to begin with.

But this method of the larger story has given me a unique opportunity. Until the fourth book, when all three main characters will share the story (I anticipate this book to be quite large, lol), the characters only have their stories told during their book. Each book in the series will bring us forward in time, until we are back with all three in the fourth book.

My point, that I seem to be taking a long time to get to, is that we will not "really" see Zanas again until the fourth book, when once again the story will be told from her point of view. So there will be a time gap...mmmmhmmm... and I could certainly fill that gap with a second Pursuer book.

This would be a spin off, so to speak, and would not need to be read in the main story arc (Pursuer, Dreamer, Alchemist, Unamed 4). It would be for the lovers of the Pursuer clan that just want to know what happened from Zanas's point of view, from the end of the first book until the beginning of the fourth book.

If this book was to become reality, it would be released the same time as Alchemist or soon after.

Just a tantalizing thought I have been having over and over that I thought I would share...

Back in the Grind!

The last few days have been filled with Dreamer. Reading, editing, writing and most of all DREAMING. It is exciting to be so close to finally putting the next part of the Alwahi series forward, and most of all tell Asenya's side. I think I love her more every time I read her story, she evolves in some way, one chapter tweaked, one deleted all together and more still added...

I'm am also excited to start on Alchemist, because honestly that is the best part, writing. I have the skeleton of Alchemist sitting in my filing cabinet just waiting to become whole. The entire first chapter has been written in my head since the beginning of Dreamer. A whole new chapter awaits...

But back to Dreamer... I want to do a read-through of Pursuer to check for inconsistencies, and then one final run through of Dreamer. My goal is the end of January, and honestly with the new fire that has been driving me day and night, I see no reason that it wont happen.

Hello Again:)

It has been a very long time. I know. Dreamer has not been released, and I apologize to everyone waiting impatiently to for it to officially come out.

Dreamer has been very close for a while now. Just halfway through on the final edit. But something bothered me. It wasn't as long as I wanted, something felt like it was missing. So I put it aside. Life became extremely busy, and other things took priority. I home school my children, and approaching AP exams and ending of the school year was everything on my radar.

Then came summer:) No school for the kids, and FINALLY a break. So I kept at the break longer than I should have, but I'm a firm believer that things happen for a reason. It came to me in the bath (weird I know, but it did), it just hit me, like this is what was missing!

I thought one more chapter and I will have what I want. Well, three chapters later and about six thousand words in about 24 hours. Yes I am ready to finally proclaim that I am working on Dreamer again. And it will be done soon. When? An exact date? I have found that I am bad with that, so my answer, "when it is ready".  

But don't worry the wait shouldn't be much longer, and I promise it will be worth it.

So apparently in my hiatus, my web domain expired, and someone purchased moniquemorgan.com that now wants to sell it back to me for $495. Wonderful. But besides the fact, I refuse to pay for it. I will be going back to the original domain moniquemorganbooks.blogspot.com.

Wohooo! Amazon has finally price matched and dropped Pursuer to free:) It can be downloaded HERE

The price change is in honor of the upcoming release of Dreamer, which will be sometime in January. I am very sorry with the delay, I have been dealing with a bad flare up of RA in my hands, that makes it difficult to type... pretty much anything. 

But not to fear, Dreamer is so close to being done, it will not take me very long to complete once the pain in my hands has subsided:)

Anyway! Pass it along. I would love to see Pursuer in the top 100 free before Dreamer comes out.

1. When did you first know you wanted to be a writer? 

Becoming a writer happened over a long period. I have always loved to write, there is a beauty in words, and new worlds waiting to become created. Eventually my “stories” started to become novels. It has been an almost insatiable need since then.
2. How do you find ideas for your stories? 

I find ideas in everything. There are certain things that I will experience and I will think, oh my gosh that would be so great in… or I’ll experience this passionate part of life and think it would be so wonderful to describe those emotions. My muse is life, and everything that it has to offer.

3. Have you traveled extensively and where do you live now? 

I grew up with my father in the Air Force. We were stationed in England for four years, and during that time I was able to visit France, Belgium and Germany. It was an exciting part of my life and I hope to go back some day.

I currently live in Utah, in a Valley surrounded by majestic mountains.

4. What are your favorite vacation spots and why?

My favorite vacation spot is a trip down my heritage. My ancestry is originally from Guatemala. I would love to someday have a bed in breakfast in my favorite spot, the former capital of Guatemala, Antigua. It is the most beautiful place I have ever been, a wild explosion of green.

5. What's your favorite place to write? 

My favorite place to write is in the front room on the couch. My son is usually watching some preschool show that he loves like Superwhy or Dora the Explorer and I’m using the quiet before the storm to create my own worlds.

6. Which era do you wish you'd been born in? 

I actually wish I could be born in the future, a time more like the Star Trek series, a society exploring the frontier of space. I would definitely have signed up for Starfleet if it were during my time.

Excerpt:

There was one thing that bothered her after Zanas had left, something that nagged at the back of her mind, until finally she could not dismiss it any longer.

Everywhere she looked, she saw the strong belief that all were allowed to choose. She had been taken below by force, and there was that part of her that wondered if she had been placed in the right clan. She knew that she had received the marks of the Dreamer, and that should be sign enough, but still there was that feeling.

Asenya snuck out in the middle of the night, following the path that she traveled down her first night below. She had been learning enough in antiquities to understand the concept of the pledge temple ,and Falon had already confided in her that he had removed the barrier spells around the hold. She could come and go as she pleased.

Usually anyone wishing to pledge a clan, did so when they believed that they were old enough to leave their families, and venture into the lives of their destinies. This was always done in the pledge temple, by those that were city born, or born within the clan.

There was a rumor that there was a spell on the temple that only allowed the pledger to speak the truth, sometimes to the speaker’s surprise. But the people of the beneath believed in nothing stronger than the tenant that Alwahi knew everyone’s path.

It was chilly in the dark shadows of the tunnel, making it seem as though she really were in the underworld. When she came to the diverging tunnels, she paused, looking up at the circling staircase that led to the temple.

For some reason, she was starting to feel afraid, the quiet of the shadows making her uneasy. Perhaps it had not been the best idea to run here in the middle of the night, when no one knew she was gone.

Shaking herself, Asenya closed her hands into fists, narrowing her eyes as she took one deep breath. She had come here for a reason, and she wasn’t going to give up when she was this close. Asenya began walking up the stairs, higher and higher, until she was pushing open the door that led into the temple.

Three throne chairs greeted her as she ventured inside, the steps of her feet echoing across the long hall. She felt immediately an overwhelming sence of reverence, the building speaking to her very soul.

It spoke of history and awe. I told whispers of the countless feet that had walked the very stone floor that she stepped across. And finally, it hinted at destiny yet to be fulfilled.

Asenya walked into the center of the magnificent building, closing her eyes and inhaling deep once again. She flung her arms outward, letting her head fall back as her eyes opened wide.

“I pledge,” her voice came out on its own. “Dreamer…”

It was like a wind that escaped her lips, traveling past her face and to the room, swirling like a mighty wind around her body, lifting her hair and the hem of her dress from the ground. The air that swirled around her brightened, turning to a shimmering trail, like the loving embrace of some spirit.

Dreamer…

A word spoken, but not, simply a melody on the wind. And then she knew, she knew that she had been placed in exactly the clan that she had belonged to, and deep down inside, she realized that she had always known.

Secret Snippet of Dreamer... and a certain someone:)

I haven't done this in awhile, but I came across a part that I just had to share! A little secret snippet into Dreamer. I have to say that I find it just as exciting to read about a certain someone as it was in Pursuer and already he is pushing for more play time in Dreamer.

Here it is! It has not seen final edit.


Excerpt from Dreamer (Chapter 21 City of the Beneath)

They reached an alleyway that was crooked and dark. There were many figures that reminded Asenya of Zanas, sleek and dressed in black. They all had one thing in common, an imposing posture that expressed a warning.

One of the buildings had a crowd of young Pursuers gathered outside it, the repetitive beat of a drum audible as the door opened and closed. Asenya noticed a few city people talking outside, a larger group of Pursuers calling out taunts to the boys.

“Don’t mind them,” Kayla said , wrapping her arm in Asenya’s and steering her to the door.

They walked inside the dark building, the center fire blazing towards the ceiling. The smoke that swarmed the room seemed to dance around like a foggy snake, as if the beating of the drums propelled it. There were Pursuers everywhere, and Asenya could not help but feel slightly unnerved as their green glowing eyes turned towards her group.

Asenya could almost be mistaken for a Pursuer, if her stature were not so soft. But the rest of those in her group would not. They were colored in deep red, a fire in the swarm of black. Moving through the crowd they found an empty table, and Kayla sat, pulling Asenya down next to her.

The boys left, returning just moments later with glowing drinks. Darian placed a full glass before Asenya.

“You will enjoy this. It’s rather tasty,” he said.

Asenya took the glass and looked at the glowing mixture. It reminded her of that long ago day when the first Klah had been placed before her and Zanas. The drink seemed just as magical now as it had then. She lifted the cup and took a long drink.

“Woah, don’t drink it so fast. The Pursuers make it extremely strong,” Kayla interjected.

That familiar sense of annoyance spread through Asenya. She was getting very tired of everyone instructing her. But once again she bit her tongue, not wanting to cause a fight.

The dancers were captivating to watch. The Pursuers were wild and they move with abandonment. The soothing beating of the drums was eerie, each boom echoing through the room, vibrating and harmonizing.

Asenya had the feeling that someone was watching her and turned to look at the most exciting man she had ever seen. He was tall and broad shouldered, his green eyes piercing. She could tell from the way his clothes formed to his body that he was nothing but toned muscles underneath, something fierce and dangerous, a soft line of tattoos trailing down his face.

I would also like to update you on Dreamer, the second book in the Alwahi Series. I began the sequel this week, and I must say I really enjoy writing for the main character, Asenya. She is a spitfire with a sarcastic mouth:) I am already 5,000 words into the novel and its looking good! I'll post teasers along the way, so keep your eyes posted.
