A Confession!

SO I have a confession to make. I have not done any editing on Alchemist. Not a single bit:(

Not because I have been lazy, but because instead the unnnamed has been taking up all the time. I mentioned before that Zanas, or should I say Zanass, was impatiently waiting for her side to now me told. And as of today the unnamed is finished.

Yes, I just wrote that. Book 3 and Book 4 are now complete in the Alwahi Series. **phew** I tell you it has been a busy couple of months, and I am very excited for you all to see what it has created.

I gave you a song a while back to give you a hint at Alchemist, I will do the same for the unnamed (I'm close to a name and will blog about it soon).

Here we go, so longing, so filled with betrayal. Exactly what Book 4 will be.

Let me count the ways I love...

I showed you a picture in my last post. Did you recognize him by any chance?

If not this so happens to be Cesare Borgia from the show The Borgias.

Why him? Because he IS Adrrian. He is the forbidden fruit, the man that creeps into your dreams, until you can think of no other.

He is the devil and the angel all in one, and always remember "We never forgive." The perfect words for the role he plays in The Unnamed.

Adrrian's character is entirely molded after this persona, down to the way he reaches out to grab his love's face, a pool that threatens to drown you with one touch.

Oh how I love this character.

Have no idea what I am talking about? Shame on you. All three seasons of The Borgias are on netflix.

Love The Borgias too? Have you voted for a season 4?

Here are some other ways you can help #SAVETHEBORGIAS

And dont forget to use the hashtags #SAVETHEBORGIAS and

Happy Valentines Day!

Hello all, sorry it has been a week or so since my last post. Took a break from writing for a minute. Considering I wrote 90,000 words in four weeks, and 40,000 of that in one week alone... yes a little time out was needed. But I will be tackling it again this weekend, and finish the last 20,000 words that I have left of the unnammed.

Any secrets that I want to tell you? How about that double rr name I talked about last time. Maybe a little hint at anticipated romance for Valentines Day???

His name is Adrrian, a Pursuer from the above, and an intoxicating adversary...

But then that raises the question, "Just whose adversary is he?"

Plans and Updates

This weekend was very eventful and I am sad to see it go. I decided that I would take a break from Alchemist, and start editing on Monday. From there, I'm looking at a 10 week schedule, give or take a few weeks, depending on how dedicated/lazy I get once the editing begins.

I may have taken a break from Alchemist, but I used the last two days to write, some pretty awesome stuff, on book 4 in the series (still not officially named) which returns the main character of Zanas. It has been so much fun writing from the Pursuer perspective again, such a comfortable homey feeling reminding me of the love that I have for the individual characters.

The bold, brave Zanas.
The ever tempting Dressdon
The full of life Ressna
The devil in blonde Desstina
The always fun twins Tress & Fless

And some new characters... probably my favorite part of this book so far.

I had a character, but I didn't have a name for him, I planned out the entire story arc  in detail on Friday, (6 pages of notes that promise for the longest book so far in the series), and "he" appeared in so many parts as just a ________. I thought about it for days, thinking of names and discarding them. And then I started talking about it to my husband and I realized I could not figure it out because he was not supposed to have the double ss of the Pursuers of the beneath, but a double rr of the Pursuers of the above. Ahhh and this added a whole new lovely piece.

But that's enough secrets for the day, ending with a 13,500 word count for "the unnamed".

Pursuer is now Free on Amazon.ca (Canada)

Sixteen-year-old Zanas is beautiful, athletic and fierce. Qualities that have made her feel as though she has never really belonged in her life of wealth and luxury. But everything is about to change, when her plane plummets into the ocean, killing almost everyone on board.

She is left with only her sister, trapped on a mysterious island, both sinister and captivating. Zanas leads the survivors deep into the forest, where hidden dangers could mean their demise with every step.

Taken in by the people of Alwahi, Zanas finds that she can speak their language, and that their Goddess seems to call to her heart. Her newly formed world is torn apart, when her sister is kidnapped by the people of the beneath, and she must follow her deep below the surface, into a magical world that she never believed could ever exist.

Follow Zanas on her journey as she fights to claim her heart and her spirit. Where the fierce Pursuers of the beneath will ask her to give them everything, and where she will find her death or her destiny.

Three clans, powerful and unique, this is the journey of the Pursuer...

Secrets and Updates

This past week has been great. I am so happy to be back to writing, and there really is something about Syreena (Alchemist) that is very reminiscent of Zanas, but in a far darker way. Unlike Zanas, Syreena didn't grow up in a happy cherished life, no, Syreena grew up in the darkened shadows of the underground.

What do we have to look forward to from the Alchemist clan? Both Pursuer and Dreamer left them vague. Rightly so, they keep mainly to themselves, raised entirely from birth within an Alchemist sub-world.

What kind of personalities do the Alchemists have? Duty first and foremost. Their entire existence is to become one with the greater hive mind, in a sense hiding their unique personalities, always beneath the Alchemist hood. But there are other reasons to don the cloak, mutations not always getting desirous results.

What part does the Alchemist play in the overall story line, series wise that is? We have something brewing, something from the very beginning. Each clan plays a part, some on the side of "good" some on the side of "bad", although the lines between the two are always blurred in the Alwahi universe. We will have to wait and see what role the Alchemist clan will play in the bigger picture.

Will we see any other clans in Alchemist? Each book in the series has given you a glimpse into the other clans. Dreamer had interactions between both the Pursuers, as well as between Syreena and Asenya. Alchemist is no different, the Pursuers always seem to play a big part in the overall story line of each book and that will continue. The Pursuers in fact, will have quite a large role in Alchemist, though we probably wont see very much, if at all of Zanas. Hmmmmmm.... then what am I saying?? Of course, I'm speaking of Dressdon of course:)

But maybe I have said too much already, lol;) I am currently 20,000 words into Alchemist, and I wish I had more time to devote to it and it would be even further along. But it can get hectic with my chickens (children), and sometimes mommy has to come before author:) But all in all, Alchemist is moving at a steady rate....oh and it's sooooo good:D

Oh hey and the first two books in the series are now available through Amazon in paperback!

Smashwords is still processing, so no word as to when it will be moved onto other channels. (B&N, Kobo, Sony, Apple etc)

Sooooooon!

Just finished the re-read of Pursuer, which was beneficial in multiple ways. I found a tiny inconsistency between Pursuer and Dreamer, and I was also able to go through Pursuer again and clean up some pesky typos. So double score, Pursuer is uploaded to amazon in its cleaner form (once Amazon approves the changes), and Dreamer is one step closer to debut.

The time is just ticking away now....

Oh hey, and guess what!? Pursuer is currently listed as #2 in the free action adventure/ fantasy, and #191 in the overall free category!

Maybe, Just Maybe

So, I'm gearing up towards reading Pursuer sometime this weekend. And I started to dwell in the world of the Pursuer in my mind, thoughts melding themselves together. I have read more than one review stating that they wished Dreamer was about the Pursuers and Zanas, did I mention Dressdon?

Although the Pursuers do have a part in Dreamer, a major part to be frank, the story was always meant to be Asenya's, just as Pursuer was always meant to be Zanas's story. I have also seen reviews wondering why there was little interaction between the two sisters in Pursuer. That is because they each have their OWN story to tell. Just as Alchemist will be from a third point of view, and where finally we will find out why the girl's were brought to the world of Alwahi. And where we discover the Alchemist's were the only clan that truly had the answers to begin with.

But this method of the larger story has given me a unique opportunity. Until the fourth book, when all three main characters will share the story (I anticipate this book to be quite large, lol), the characters only have their stories told during their book. Each book in the series will bring us forward in time, until we are back with all three in the fourth book.

My point, that I seem to be taking a long time to get to, is that we will not "really" see Zanas again until the fourth book, when once again the story will be told from her point of view. So there will be a time gap...mmmmhmmm... and I could certainly fill that gap with a second Pursuer book.

This would be a spin off, so to speak, and would not need to be read in the main story arc (Pursuer, Dreamer, Alchemist, Unamed 4). It would be for the lovers of the Pursuer clan that just want to know what happened from Zanas's point of view, from the end of the first book until the beginning of the fourth book.

If this book was to become reality, it would be released the same time as Alchemist or soon after.

Just a tantalizing thought I have been having over and over that I thought I would share...

Pursuer is finally free on Amazon!

Wohooo! Amazon has finally price matched and dropped Pursuer to free:) It can be downloaded HERE

The price change is in honor of the upcoming release of Dreamer, which will be sometime in January. I am very sorry with the delay, I have been dealing with a bad flare up of RA in my hands, that makes it difficult to type... pretty much anything.

But not to fear, Dreamer is so close to being done, it will not take me very long to complete once the pain in my hands has subsided:)

Anyway! Pass it along. I would love to see Pursuer in the top 100 free before Dreamer comes out.

Cut Epilogue from Pursuer

In honor of the release of Dreamer I thought I would share a cut epilogue from Pursuer. I cut the scene because I thought it made the story between Zanas and Dressdon feel as though it ended. Although Dreamer is through Asenya's point of view, both Zanas and Dressdon make an entrance, with mainly Dressdon in the story.

Although the story is far from over, this scene still holds a special place in my heart, the final words bring everything to full circle. ~enjoy!

Zanas laughed loudly as she pushed passed him and entered the secret entrance to the above first. She heard his replying laughter as he sped up, running beside her. They ran at the same pace, each matching the other’s steps naturally. They could see down the long tunnel to the brightly lit entranceway. It was a full moon.

They burst out into the night air, the bright stars shinning above them. She had never seen stars that looked so large, covering the sky with their splendor. Zanas found herself turning slowly with her arms outstretched, as she stared at the brilliance. She looked down and turned to see Dressdon watching her.

“What?” she asked.

“You look beautiful in the starlight,” Dressdon said in that serious voice he only used with her. She laughed.

“Let’s see how beautiful I look in the forest!” she called over her shoulder as she sped past him and into the jungle.

Her bare feet were screaming in joy, it felt wonderful to feel the living forest against them. Zanas ran with that burning happy freedom, holding back for no one. Needing to hold back for no one. She could hear the sound of Dressdon following behind her.

“Ahhhh… you want to play prey again. I like this game,” he purred, and their laughter echoed through the forest.

They ran like two acrobatic animals, diving and jumping over and under obstacles. There was a confidence in their steps, as if they could anticipate each bend or curve in the forest. It was just the two of them, running free in the green forest of the night. They ran through a field of pangerra flowers, each one bursting forth a brilliant shower of colors. As they ran through the pollen, they mixed and matched the colors, swirling the air, as they ran by.

Zanas heard the sound of water up ahead. She gave a graceful leap onto the streambed that lay in the small ravine below them, and Dressdon landed next to her. They stood staring at each other, their chests moving rapidly with the exertion of the run. Their face and bodies were streaked with the brilliant colors of the pangerra flowers. They looked like exotic alien peacocks displaying their colors in the brilliance of the night.

They had stood here once before on that long ago night they had first met. They were once again standing in the beauty of the forest, two hunters with one beating heart. He pulled her by the waist and held her close to him, bringing his lips to hers. Nothing else existed.

Two Pursuers in the forest…

Author Interview by Kenna McKinnon

I was interviewed by Kenna McKinnon, make sure and stop by her blog and show some love:)
Here is the interview!

____________________________________________

1. When did you first know you wanted to be a writer?

Becoming a writer happened over a long period. I have always loved to write, there is a beauty in words, and new worlds waiting to become created. Eventually my “stories” started to become novels. It has been an almost insatiable need since then.
2. How do you find ideas for your stories?

I find ideas in everything. There are certain things that I will experience and I will think, oh my gosh that would be so great in… or I’ll experience this passionate part of life and think it would be so wonderful to describe those emotions. My muse is life, and everything that it has to offer.

3. Have you traveled extensively and where do you live now?

I grew up with my father in the Air Force. We were stationed in England for four years, and during that time I was able to visit France, Belgium and Germany. It was an exciting part of my life and I hope to go back some day.

I currently live in Utah, in a Valley surrounded by majestic mountains.

4. What are your favorite vacation spots and why?

My favorite vacation spot is a trip down my heritage. My ancestry is originally from Guatemala. I would love to someday have a bed in breakfast in my favorite spot, the former capital of Guatemala, Antigua. It is the most beautiful place I have ever been, a wild explosion of green.

5. What's your favorite place to write?

My favorite place to write is in the front room on the couch. My son is usually watching some preschool show that he loves like Superwhy or Dora the Explorer and I’m using the quiet before the storm to create my own worlds.

6. Which era do you wish you'd been born in?

I actually wish I could be born in the future, a time more like the Star Trek series, a society exploring the frontier of space. I would definitely have signed up for Starfleet if it were during my time.

Updates

Its been a busy past couple of days. I am almost done entering the paper edit into the computer, I only have about fifteen pages left, and I should be able to complete that tomorrow.  Yah! It seems like this round of editing took the longest, but I was able to get more out of it, than I would have if it were on the computer.

I'm excited about the Lucky Leprechaun Giveaway Hop that starts this Saturday 17th to 22nd. This will be a fun experience, I will be giving away a couple of prizes... I'll give more details in my "official" post about the hop on Friday.

Ideas are underway for a book trailer for Pursuer. I have a few shots that I want already in mind, hopefully the weather stays nice and I can make them happen:) But it will definitely be more of something like this...

My favorite snippet from this edit:

The noise of the crowd changed with the scent of blood in the air. Zanas was surrounded by glowing green eyes, the eyes of predators in frenzy. Desstina was coming at her again. This time her flying hand found only air. Zanas grabbed the girl by her neck, slamming Desstina’s head into her knee. Desstina dropped to the floor, cradling her nose. She seemed finished. Then the words of Dressdon echoed in her mind, just as Desstina catapulted herself upward, her fist outstretched. She made contact with the center of Zanas’s face. The force of the blow knocked Zanas on her back, and Desstina leaped atop her.

The crowd was screaming now. They seemed to be like exotic dancers, as they moved their bodies in a swell, like waves smashing on the beach. Desstina wrapped her hands tightly around Zanas’s neck digging her sharp claws into the flesh. Time stopped for Zanas, only the taste of her blood in her mouth and the sound of her beating heart.

Paper Edit is Finished!

I just finished the paper edit, and I am super happy!:)  As I am sure you can tell.  Now I just need to get it on the computer, and then its off to beta readers: round two.

Here's a favorite snippet:

Her breath came out in small, excited gasps, her teeth bared, blood dripping down her chin.  She could hear the sound of her own growling, as her heart pounded in her chest.  Her vision began to clear slightly and her team came into view, reminding her of another hunting party she had hunted with.  Just like that party, she found all eyes staring at her, and recognized the familiar emotion…respect.
Zanas found herself face to face with him. She looked into his eyes searching for the other emotion she always saw in people once they had truly seen her for what she was, a predator.  But she saw nothing but wild excitement reflected in his eyes.

There was no fear.

Goals

I would like to finish this round of editing by the end of the week.  It really seems like the words are getting much tighter.  I'm hoping to update the changes on the computer, and then send it out to few more beta readers by the beginning of next week..  I also need to do a little tweaking to the covers... maybe a major change.  We will have to wait and see :)

My favorite edit passage of the day.

The luminous landscape of the pangerra flowers filled her vision. Before, she had been able to see the flowers as they glowed, blinking slightly. But now, she could follow the beginning of the glow from deep inside the plant and watch as it spread through the flower, a flame igniting. She found herself staring at the flowers with her mouth agape, like some bug mystified by the beauty of their radiance. One of the brothers stepped too close to a blossom, and it ejected pollen into the air like fireworks, a flash of brilliance in the night sky.

Fun Stuff

Pursuer was sent out to beta readers, and I am happy with the comments I am receiving from them.  I got some wonderful suggestions and the final chapter has been extended.  I’m very happy with the results.

I have also sent out a some samples of my writing to editors, and one comment came back that rocked my world.  I thought I would share itJ

I love this story! That may not be a professional critique, but it's from the heart!

Moreover, the writing itself is pleasing, polished, accomplished and enjoyable. The characters are well-drawn, engaging and fascinating. The ambient World of the story seen through the special vision of the Clan is delightful, and the blossoming love between the Hero and Heroine was beautifully and sensually portrayed...

Thank you for the opportunity to read and sample edit this very compelling manuscript excerpt!

Warm wishes, Roberta Tennant, Editor, Falcon Books

First Print!

I have my first print copy of Pursuer.  Although its only a editing copy, there is still something very satisfying about having a tangible example of my work in my hands.  To feel the weight of it.  All the words collected together in one neat package.  Too bad its getting blemished with edit markings:)  Oh well, it means one step closer to being published!
